The Colonial Boys

The Colonial Boys are a new energetic twist on Traditional Irish and Newfoundland Folk music. Their exciting blend of instruments and singing have won concertgoers over. All 5 members come from vastly different backgrounds and bring with them a host of different experiences and playing techniques.

Cory Knight of Shoe Cove is has been playing traditional Irish music for the past 20 years, beginning with guitar and more recently banjo. He was mentored for many years by his father Wayne Knight, who has become a well known figure in the local traditional music scene.

Garry Knight, of Shoe Cove, has been thumping the bass guitar since 1964. He has played in many bands in his 50+ years playing music, and is currently a gospel group, as well as The Colonial Bhoys.

Jamie Moran of Pouch Cove has been professionally playing and mentoring in various music circles throughout Pouch Cove and St. John’s for the past 2 years. Jamie can be seen plucking away on the guitar, mandolin, and bouzoki with the Colonial Bhoys, as well as singing. You can also catch him at various events with the MUN School of Music as he completes a music degree studying percussion.

Chris Ryan of Pouch Cove is 27 years old and has been playing drums since before he could walk. Chris has played in various community groups over the years, and he is excited to be behind the kit with The Colonial Bhoys.

Jed Whitty, the local legend from Torbay. Whenever someone in the surrounding communities needs an accordion player, they always call Jed. He has played in many bands in his 25 years experience, and can be found multiple times every week performing with various community groups.
