Canada Summer Jobs Program 2025

Torbay Folk Arts Council is looking for and 2 musician/singers for our 2025 Cultural Ambassador Program.  The Cultural Ambassadors will be responsible for representing the Torbay Folk Arts Council in our community as well as neighboring communities. These are 8-week, 30 hr per week, positions for July and August 2025.

Our Cultural Ambassadors must be organized, friendly and outgoing, and a minimum of 17 yrs. old. You must have access to a computer/tablet/smartphone for communication purposes and access to a vehicle as travel throughout the area is required. Flexibility of working hours is also a requirement as duties/performances will take place on evenings and weekends. The ability to work as a solo act, as well as with other musicians is essential. A broad knowledge of traditional Newfoundland and Irish music is a must, although we will provide training, practice, and rehearsal time in these areas for the right person. We also encourage all types of music as part of performances.

Duties include, but are not limited to, musical performances in youth camps, local festivals, community events and seniors and senior care facilities. The cultural ambassadors will be working from Torbay History House and performances throughout the summer at History House will be required. The Cultural Ambassador will also be expected to communicate with the various local organizations and schedule performances, manage youth performers, keep track of your work, and report your activities to your supervisors. Both musicians will also be expected, under the supervision of Torbay Folk Arts Council members, to set up sound and stage equipment for other performers taking part in the Experience summer festival. Weekly meetings with Torbay Folk Arts Council executive will be required and Ambassadors are expected to undergo safety and other job-related training sessions.
