Torbay Quilters Group

About

The Torbay Quilters Group started meeting March 2007. Since then our members have been meeting every Thursday from about 9:30am – 3:00pm at the Kinsmen Centre.

Our Objectives

Our objectives are simple: getting together with persons who enjoy quilting, sharing skills, ideas, supporting each other and having fun. Our members cover the spectrum of quilters from beginners to advanced levels.

Torbay Quilters are very diverse in regular life activities, but we all like to work on projects and talk the common language of quilting. We have to cap the number of members at 23 as that is all the building can accommodate. Presently we five on our waiting list.

Giving Back to the Community

Members show their appreciation to the Town of Torbay by taking part in a group project that benefits people from the area. Since 2007 we have donated charity quilts to: the Janeway Hospital (on several occasions), Torbay Museum, Torbay Volunteer Fire Dept., Holy Trinity High School, Palliative Care Unit, North Pond Manor, Ronald McDonald House, as well as personal charities like the Gathering Place, Stella Burry House, Canadian Cancer Society, etc.

Our group has become a great social outlet that provides an important support for it’s members. With the friendships that have developed our interests have expanded to discussions of healthy living and getting people active.
