Kitchinparti

Kitchinparti performs upbeat, party-oriented tunes with an easy-going feel. The set list is full of fun staples, as well as fresh new originals (with over 150,000 streams on Spotify and Apple Music).

Kitchinparti is comprised of:

  • Tyler Humber (Vocals and Guitar);
  • Justin Hickey (Bass, Vocals and Guitar); and,
  • Terri Lynn Humber (Vocals and Tin Whistle).

 Tyler completed music performance at College of the North Atlantic; while Justin and Terri Lynn are both professional musicians. Justin plays bass for the legendary Newfoundland folk group “The Irish Descendants”; and Terri Lynn is a piano teacher, who has accompanied multiple musical acts including Owen Mac, Janet Cull and Quote the Raven.

In late 2019, the three musicians formed Kitchinparti in response to call from “Shanneyganock”, who were looking for an opening act for their annual Christmas show in Flatrock. Building on the success of opening for one of the province’s most successful acts, the band got to work writing and practicing, developing its catalogue of original and traditional songs. Kitchinparti were busy booking, promoting and planning for St. Patrick’s Day 2020 – steadily gaining steam until the Covid-19 pandemic shut down all live music venues. However, it was the limitations of Covid-19 that presented a unique opportunity, allowing the band to barrel forward.

As a family band (Tyler and Terri Lynn are siblings; Justin and Terri Lynn are spouses), Kitchinparti were able to “double bubble”. As a result, every Tuesday night from May to July 2020, Kitchinparti held an online live stream event from the Humber’s kitchen. The weekly stream garnered a considerable following, with videos reaching 32,000 views and over 500 people tuning in live each week. As regulations loosened, Kitchinparti was booked to play at several local establishments, including O’Reilly’s Irish Newfoundland Pub, Yellow Belly Brewery and Broderick’s Pub. In August 2020, the band released the single “One More Song”, featuring fiddler Patrick Moran. The song debuted on “The Irish Newfoundland Show ” with Greg Smith, and continues to get play on multiple radio stations. The next single “Blarney Roses” featuring Fred Jorgensen, was released in November 2020. It also premiered on “The Irish Newfoundland Show ”, and continues to get regular play on multiple stations. In December 2020, Kitchinparti released its debut album, “Got Me Drove”. Recorded and produced by the band, the album was mixed and mastered by Peter Green and Robert Kelly, and album artwork was designed by local artist Renee Baldwin. Every song on “Got Me Drove” continues to get play on local radio.
